On Saturday, Zimbabwe launched a National Dress Fabric at an elaborate ceremony attended by senior government officials. The National Dress project was spearheaded by First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa who said that “the national dress will be a form of identity for Zimbabweans.”
The images of the national dress fabric have gone viral on social media, although the reactions from Zimbabweans online seem to be less than enthusiastic. Although there are some supporters of the national dress fabric, most people seem unenthused. Many said that they were underwhelmed and said that the national dress fabric program could have been implemented better with more inspiring results than the ones currently on display.
