Zim Actress, Sibongile Mlambo To Star In International Superhero Series Black Lightning

 


Zimbabwe-born actress Sibongile Mlambo is set to star in the American superhero series ‘Black Lightning’s spinoff, Painkiller.

The vivacious actress has been cast to star as an attractive icy and mysterious woman named Maya in the seventh episode of Black Lightning’s fourth season.

‘Black Lightning’ is an American superhero drama series, developed by Salim Akil. It is based on the character of the same name, created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden, featured in publications of DC Comics.

Sibongile will be acting alongside Cress Williams, China Anne McClain, Nafessa Williams, Damon Gupton, James Remar, Jordan Calloway, and Chantal Thuy.

Sibongile was born and raised in Zimbabwe, she left Zimbabwe in 2005 to pursue her education in the United States and has lived in Texas, New York, and briefly in Spain.

According to The Chronicle, Sibongile’s passion for the arts was ignited after being cast in the international feature, Kini & Adams.

Ever since she left Zimbabwe, she has been making international strides and bagging international roles. Apparently, Sibongile is not new in the movie industry as she has featured in a number of popular movies such as  Lovecraft Country, God Friended Me, Honey 3, Lost In Space, Siren, Dark/Web, Macgyver, Teen Wolf, and Black Sails.

In 2018, she became the first African actress to play a mermaid role after she starred in the drama series, ‘Siren’.

She is also multi-talented, not only is she an actress but she also works as a commercial model and a  dancer. In 2007, she was crowned the second princess in Miss Zim-USA 2007.
