Lagos Withholds Billions As Over 20 Hospitals, Key Agencies Get Zero Funding From January–June 2025 –Budget Report

A recent review of Lagos State's 2025 Second Quarters budget performance has revealed that several government agencies, commissions, and healthcare facilities did not receive funding from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration in the first and second quarters of the year. These include:

- Lagos State Pension Commission

- Local Government Service Commission

- Lagos Consumer Protection Agency

- Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service

- Lagos State Health Monitoring and Accreditation Agency

- Lagos State Accident & Emergency Centre

- Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA)

- Lagos State Emergency Command and Control Centre

- Lagos State Wastewater Management Office

- Lagos State Public Procurement Agency (LASPPA)

- Over 20 general hospitals and healthcare centers across the state

- Six health districts in the state

Some of the affected hospitals include:

- General Hospital, Lagos

- Gbagada General Hospital

- Orile Agege General Hospital

- Isolo General Hospital

- Ikorodu General Hospital

- Badagry General Hospital

- Lagos Island Maternity Hospital

- Massey Street Children's Hospital, Lagos

- Mainland Hospital, Yaba

This revelation comes amid worker outrage over unexplained salary deductions, with some staff losing between N200,000 and N600,000. Healthcare workers have accused the governor's administration of betrayal and financial oppression, questioning why they are being impoverished despite the sector's significant contribution to the state's economy.
