Angela Wrightson trial: Blood-splattered weapons teen girls used to murder tragic woman revealed

Miss Wrightson was found dead in her blood-spattered living room in Hartlepool, County Durham, with more than 100 injuries after the attack by the girls aged 13 and 14 at the time

Chilling pictures of the weapons two teenage girls used to murder a vulnerable 39-year-old woman in her own home while taking Snapchat pictures on their phones have been released by police.

Angela Wrightson was found dead in her blood-spattered living room in Hartlepool, County Durham, with more than 100 injuries inflicted by a series of 'weapons'.

The girls, who were aged just 13 and 14 at the time of the attack in December 2014, used a variety of items, including a coffee table, a shovel, a TV and a computer printer, to carry out the "sustained and brutal" attack.

The jury of eight women and four men was told that shards of glass and small pieces of gravel or grit were strewn over and around Miss Wrightson's private parts and ash from burnt paper had been put into her ear.

The girls will be sentenced on Thursday.

After the attack, the girls phoned police and asked for a lift home before taking a selfie on a mobile phone in the back of the police van.

The younger girl took a picture of her friend in the back of the police van and posted it on the Snapchat app with the caption: “Me and (name) in the back on the bizzie van again.”

Officers who collected the girls described them as laughing and joking and in "high spirits".

The court has also seen photos taken by the girls of themselves and Miss Wrightson during the evening.

Angela's family said they would always be haunted by the details of her murder but would continue to cherish the memories of her "infectious personality".
