The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, says he has been vindicated by the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha’s recent remark that those who did nothing to help the emergence of her husband, Muhammadu Buhari, as President, are the people now in the corridor of power.
Saraki, had on June 27, stated that a nefarious group within the government of President Buhari has seized the apparatus of Executive powers to pursue their selfish agenda.
In an interview with BBC Hausa Service, the wife of the president said, “Those who didn’t do anything, who don’t even have voters’ cards are the ones in position, doing everything”.
Saraki’s comments were conveyed by a tweet posted on Friday morning by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bamikole Omisore, noting that Mrs. Buhari’s comment came “months apart” from Saraki’s own complaint about “the same thing”.
Omisore stated that Buhari and those who criticised his principal at the time he made the comments should understand that both the president’s wife and his principal meant well for the administration.
“Aisha Buhari and Bukola Saraki both have the best interest of President Buhari at heart,” he said in the tweet.
Speaking later in an interview with Premium Times, the Senate President’s media aide said: “It is true that we still believe that there’s a government within the government.
“We do believe that the president has good intention and we’re behind him. But a situation where a few people are in charge does not bode well for the image and the future of our country.”
