Abducted Sister Of Governor Okowa Released By Kidnappers

The sister-in-law of  Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State abducted last week has been released.

Elizabeth, younger sister to Dame Edith Okowa, was allegedly abducted by a gang of unknown gunmen at the Temple Clinic Junction, along Awai Road near the Government House in Asaba.

The victim was said to have been released at about 2am on Thursday after over N150m was allegedly paid as ransom.

A reliable source at the Delta State Government House confirmed her release but denied knowledge of ransom payment.

The PUNCH also gathered that the negotiation process in securing her release was kept as a top secret.

When contacted, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Adeyinka Adeleke, claimed ignorance and denied any knowledge of the abduction and the freedom of Elizabeth.

He said, “I’m just hearing it from you, I don’t have that information that she was abducted let alone to have information that she has been released. I no hear go, so is not possible for me to hear come.

“Though, there was a time people were calling me that she was abducted, I couldn’t confirm that and this one too that she has been released I can’t confirm unless I find out.”
